ActiveCampaign with Nexra

Connected, approved, proven.

The things teams do most with ActiveCampaign, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.

Top actions

  • Link contact to accountApproval by rule
  • Create accountApproval by rule
  • List account contactsRead

Example flow

  1. ActiveCampaign · List account contactsDone
  2. ActiveCampaign · Link contact to accountNeeds approval
  3. Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven

Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches ActiveCampaign.

What gets logged

  • Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
  • A fingerprint of the exact request sent to ActiveCampaign
  • ActiveCampaign's reply: what it created or changed
  • One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before

Try this in the sandbox

Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect your own account when you are ready to go live.

Access and limits

Authentication
API key
Plans and access
All ActiveCampaign plans include the API; deals and accounts need a plan with the CRM features. The API key carries the permissions of the user it belongs to. Each user has their own key.
Test environment
ActiveCampaign offers a free trial and developer accounts on request.
Rate limits
5 requests per second per account; HTTP 429 with Retry-After.
Pagination
limit/offset (limit up to 100) with meta.total.
Provider events
Account webhooks for subscribe, unsubscribe, contact update, deal and campaign events. Flows run on demand, on a schedule, or when a scheduled check finds new or changed records.

Before you build a flow

  • List subscription status changes only through contact_lists.upsert, which requires an explicit status. Contact create, update and sync never change list subscriptions or tags.
  • Re-subscribing a contact who unsubscribed themselves (status 2 → 1) should only be done with their renewed consent.
  • Campaign create, edit, schedule, send, test-send, pause and stop, template and message writes, SMS and WhatsApp broadcasts, automation enrolment changes, bulk contact imports and syncs, contact merges and all deletes are intentionally not implemented. Campaigns, messages and templates are read-only.
  • E-commerce orders are records of purchases made elsewhere; nothing here charges, refunds or captures. Real-time orders (source 1) can start purchase and abandoned-cart automations, so backfills should use source 0.
  • E-commerce customer and order lists are filtered by IDs, never by email, so email addresses do not appear in request URLs.
  • ActiveCampaign does not document an updated-since filter for e-commerce orders, tasks, users or segments, so those reads are full lists.
  • List updates never set carbon-copy or subscription notification recipients.
  • ActiveCampaign documents no idempotency key; contact, deal, task, list, pipeline, stage, note and e-commerce creates are not repeated automatically when uncertain.
  • Contact custom field values are written by field ID; read definitions with fields.list, deal_fields.list and account_fields.list.
  • The per-contact automations read (contacts/{id}/contactAutomations) is documented only through the reference index and link relations; it was not checked against a sandbox.
