Bitbucket Cloud

Software delivery, ITSM & observability

Turn incidents and requests into Bitbucket Cloud work items, and keep status in step across your tools.

30 ways to read, 16 ways to write, each write switched on by you.

Quality checks

Built and tested with example responses.

  1. Ready to connect: doneEvery listed action is built in.
  2. Built and tested with example responses: doneEach action is built from the provider’s published API and tested against example responses, errors, rate limits and paging.
Bitbucket Cloud with Nexra

Connected, approved, proven.

The things teams do most with Bitbucket Cloud, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.

Top actions

  • Create branchbranches.createApproval by rule
  • Publish code insight reportcommit_reports.upsertApproval by rule
  • List code insight reportscommit_reports.listRead

Example flow

  1. Bitbucket Cloud · List code insight reportscommit_reports.listDone
  2. Bitbucket Cloud · Create branchbranches.createMaker-checker
  3. Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven

Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches Bitbucket Cloud.

What gets logged

  • Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
  • A fingerprint of the exact request sent to Bitbucket Cloud
  • Bitbucket Cloud's reply: what it created or changed
  • One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before

Try this in the sandbox

Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect a Atlassian test account before you go live.

Access and limits

Authentication
Atlassian account email and API token, or an access token
Plans and access
All Bitbucket Cloud plans. Workspace and repository access tokens need a Premium plan. API tokens act as the Atlassian account and are limited by the scopes chosen at creation; app passwords stopped working on 9 June 2026.
Test environment
A free Bitbucket Cloud workspace works for testing.
Rate limits
Hourly per-user limits per resource type (for example 1,000 requests per hour for most repository data, higher with scaled limits on Standard and Premium); HTTP 429.
Pagination
Response next URL with pagelen up to 100 (50 for pull requests); pipelines page by number.
Provider events
Repository and workspace webhooks for push, pull request, build status and pipeline events. Flows run on demand, on a schedule, or when a scheduled check finds new or changed records.

Before you build a flow

  • The Bitbucket issue tracker endpoints are no longer in the published Bitbucket Cloud API specification, so issues are not implemented.
  • Merging, declining and approving pull requests, stopping pipelines, and deleting repositories, projects, branches, tags, comments, tasks or reports are intentionally not implemented.
  • Workspace code search is not implemented because Atlassian deprecates that endpoint on 1 November 2026.
  • Repository and project updates use Bitbucket's PUT, which creates the resource when the slug or key does not exist; Nexra does not send a name on repository updates, so repositories are never renamed.
  • Pipeline variable values marked secured are never returned by Bitbucket; Nexra does not write pipeline variables.
  • pull_request_diffstat.list follows Bitbucket's documented 302 to the repository diffstat for the pull request's commit range (same origin, one hop). The raw diff and patch endpoints are not implemented.
  • Pull request updated-since filters use Bitbucket query language (BBQL) on updated_on.
  • Pull request, comment, task, pipeline and annotation creates have no idempotency key; uncertain writes are not repeated automatically. Project, repository, branch and tag creates converge because Bitbucket rejects an existing key, slug or name.

Developer reference

  1. Create the Atlassian credentials described above with the narrowest permissions your flows need.
  2. In Nexra, open Connect, then Connections, then New connection, choose Bitbucket Cloud, enter its settings and credentials, and tick only the write actions you need. Connection guide
  3. Test the connection, then use its actions as flow sources and destinations. Flow guide
