Project & work management

Turn requests and orders into Harvest work, and keep status in step across your tools.

38 ways to read, 29 ways to write, each write switched on by you.

Harvest with Nexra

Connected, approved, proven.

The things teams do most with Harvest, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.

Top actions

  • Create clientclients.createApproval by rule
  • Create client contactcontacts.createApproval by rule
  • Expense reportexpense_reports.listRead

Example flow

  1. Harvest · Expense reportexpense_reports.listDone
  2. Harvest · Create clientclients.createMaker-checker
  3. Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven

Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches Harvest.

What gets logged

  • Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
  • A fingerprint of the exact request sent to Harvest
  • Harvest's reply: what it created or changed
  • One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before

Try this in the sandbox

Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect your own account when you are ready to go live.

Access and limits

Authentication
Personal access token with Harvest account ID
Plans and access
All Harvest plans, including Free. Personal access tokens act as the creating user. Users, clients, projects and invoices need Administrator or Manager permissions; Members only see their own time and expenses.
Test environment
Use a free Harvest account or the 30-day trial for testing.
Rate limits
100 requests per 15 seconds per token (Reports API 100 per 15 minutes); HTTP 429 with Retry-After.
Pagination
Cursor pagination up to 2,000 records per page; Nexra follows links.next.
Provider events
Harvest API v2 has no webhooks. Flows run on demand, on a schedule, or when a scheduled check finds new or changed records.

Before you build a flow

  • Time entry fields depend on the account timer mode: duration accounts use hours, timestamp accounts use started and ended times.
  • Invoices and estimates are created as drafts and can be edited; Nexra never sends them, marks them sent, records payments or deletes line items.
  • Excluded on purpose: every delete, archiving users, creating users (Harvest emails an invitation), invoice and estimate messages (sending), invoice payments, user access-role, email and SSO changes, and billable or cost rate creation (it can replace a user's existing rates).
  • Reports cover at most 365 days per request and are limited to 100 requests per 15 minutes.
  • Report rows have no Harvest ID; Nexra builds one from the grouping ID and currency (one row per currency).
  • Budget amounts in the project budget report and billing amounts in reports need Administrator or Project Manager rights with billable rate access.
  • Expense receipt files are not uploaded or downloaded; receipt metadata is read.
  • Harvest has no idempotency key; uncertain creates are not repeated automatically.
  • Harvest has no webhooks; flows poll with updated_since.

Developer reference

  1. Create the Harvest (Forecast Inc.) credentials described above with the narrowest permissions your flows need.
  2. In Nexra, open Connect, then Connections, then New connection, choose Harvest, enter its settings and credentials, and tick only the write actions you need. Connection guide
  3. Test the connection, then use its actions as flow sources and destinations. Flow guide
