Access and limits
- Authentication
- Personal API token sent in the x-api-token header
- Plans and access
- All Pipedrive plans include the API; products and billing fields depend on the plan. The API token acts as the user who owns it and follows that user's visibility and permission sets.
- Test environment
- Pipedrive offers free developer sandbox accounts through the Developer Hub.
- Rate limits
- Token-based daily budget per company plan plus burst limits per 2-second window; HTTP 429 with Retry-After when exceeded.
- Pagination
- API v2 uses cursor and limit (max 500) with additional_data.next_cursor; v1 leads and notes use start and limit with more_items_in_collection.
- Provider events
- Webhooks v2 for create, change and delete events on deals, persons, organizations, activities and more. Flows can start the moment something happens: when a new deal is created; when a deal is won; when a deal is updated; when a new person is added.
Before you build a flow
- Uses API v2 where Pipedrive offers it (deals, persons, organizations, activities, products, deal products, pipelines, stages, fields, search) and v1 for leads, notes and users.
- The API token is never sent in the api_token query parameter.
- Custom field values are keyed by Pipedrive's 40-character field key; fetch definitions and option IDs with List fields.
- Person marketing_status (Campaigns consent) is returned read-only and changes only when the Marketing status input is explicitly mapped.
- Pipedrive has no idempotency key; uncertain creates are not repeated automatically.
- Deletes, merges, duplicates, follower changes, bulk deal-product writes, lead and deal conversions, project archiving, call recording uploads, mailbox and goals are not automated.
- Search operations (deals, persons, organizations, products, leads) send the search term as a query parameter, which is the only form Pipedrive's search API accepts. Person search over the email or phone fields therefore puts that value in the URL.
- Projects and project tasks require the Pipedrive Projects add-on; deal installments require the Growth plan or above and only apply to deals with one-time products.
- Call logs list only the API token user's own call logs (50 per page). Phone numbers are sent only in the JSON body.
- Installments and discounts are deal records only; Pipedrive moves no money for them.
