Remote with Nexra

Connected, approved, proven.

The things teams do most with Remote, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.

Example flow

  1. Remote · List leave balancesDone
  2. Remote · Create custom fieldNeeds approval
  3. Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven

Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches Remote.

What gets logged

  • Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
  • A fingerprint of the exact request sent to Remote
  • Remote's reply: what it created or changed
  • One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before

Try this in the sandbox

Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect a Remote Technology, Inc. test account before you go live.

Access and limits

Authentication
Remote customer API token
Plans and access
Remote customers with API access; API tokens are created by company admins. A customer API token acts as the admin who created it. Employment changes are limited by employment status (see limitations).
Test environment
Remote's sandbox at gateway.remote-sandbox.com uses ra_test_ tokens and is fully isolated.
Rate limits
300 requests per minute per company; HTTP 429 with x-ratelimit-reset.
Pagination
page and page_size (max 100) with current_page and total_pages.
Provider events
Remote webhook callbacks for employment, onboarding, offboarding and contractor invoice events, signed with a per-callback key. Flows can start the moment something happens: when an employee's onboarding starts; when an employee finishes onboarding; when an employment's status changes; when an employment's details change.

Before you build a flow

  • Expense creation is excluded: Remote records created expenses as approved and reimburses them through payroll, which is a payout.
  • Employment updates send only work email, manager, department and external IDs. Remote allows work email for invited employees, manager and work email for active employees, and external IDs in any status; contract changes need a contract amendment.
  • Time off created through the API is recorded as already approved (Remote's API only creates approved time off); it requires an approver and approval time.
  • Timesheets, offboardings, countries, time-off types, leave policies, holidays, cost centers and payroll calendars are read only. Approvals, declines, cancellations, send-backs and offboarding requests are not automated.
  • Time-off updates require an edit reason and never send a status, so they cannot approve or cancel leave.
  • Excluded by policy: employment creation and invitations, onboarding steps, contract amendments, offboarding and termination requests, company-manager creation and role changes (invitations and privilege changes), expense creation and review (reimbursement payouts), incentives, pay items, payroll runs, payslips, billing documents, contractor invoices, benefit offers, bank, tax, personal, address, emergency-contact and identity-verification data, work-authorization and travel-letter requests, documents and files, and every delete.
  • The existing List employments operation keeps its Login email filter, which Remote receives as a query parameter. New flows should use Find employment, which never sends the email in the URL.
  • Directory users and groups use Remote's SCIM 2.0 endpoints with startIndex and count paging; SCIM filter expressions are not exposed.
  • Remote has no updated-since filter for employments, time off or expenses; flows read full lists.
  • Remote has no idempotency key; uncertain creates are not repeated automatically.
  • Bank details, personal details and emergency contacts are not mapped.
