SendGrid with Nexra

Connected, approved, proven.

The things teams do most with SendGrid, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.

Top actions

  • Add or update contactApproval by rule
  • Create designApproval by rule
  • List spam reportsRead

Example flow

  1. HubSpot · Read contactsDone
  2. SendGrid · Send emailNeeds approval
  3. Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven

Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches SendGrid.

What gets logged

  • Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
  • A fingerprint of the exact request sent to SendGrid
  • SendGrid's reply: what it created or changed
  • One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before

Try this in the sandbox

Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect your own account when you are ready to go live.

Access and limits

Authentication
API key
Plans and access
All SendGrid plans. Marketing Campaigns contacts need a Marketing Campaigns plan (Free or paid); email activity needs the Email Activity History add-on; the EU region needs a Pro plan or above. API keys can be limited to scopes; grant Mail Send, Marketing, Design Library, Templates, Suppressions (read, plus group create/update), Stats, Categories, Sender Verification, Webhooks (read), Subusers (read), Teammates (read) and Email Activity (read) as needed.
Test environment
Use a free account and the sandbox mode mail setting to validate sends without delivery.
Rate limits
Per-endpoint limits reported in X-RateLimit-Limit/Remaining/Reset headers; HTTP 429 when exceeded. Contact search has its own low limit and email activity allows few requests per minute.
Pagination
page_token from _metadata.next on lists, templates, Single Sends, designs and Marketing stats; limit/offset on suppressions, categories, domains, subusers and teammates; lastSeenID on verified senders; contact samples and searches return at most 50 records.
Provider events
Event Webhook for delivery, open, click, bounce, spam report and unsubscribe events. Flows run on demand, on a schedule, or when a scheduled check finds new or changed records.

Before you build a flow

  • Contact reads return at most 50 contacts (SendGrid's sample and SGQL search limits); full exports are asynchronous and not implemented.
  • SendGrid contacts carry no consent field: opt-outs live in global unsubscribes and unsubscribe-group suppressions, which Nexra reads but never changes.
  • Contact upsert is asynchronous; read the returned job with contact_imports.get to learn the outcome.
  • Mail send has no idempotency key and repeated requests send again; uncertain sends are not repeated automatically. Recipients are limited to 50 in one personalization so the operation cannot broadcast to audiences.
  • Scheduling, sending, test-sending or duplicating Single Sends, automation changes, template version activation and edits, legacy campaigns, suppression and global unsubscribe changes, group suppression adds, contact imports and exports, sender, domain, webhook, subuser and teammate changes, email validation and all deletes are intentionally not implemented.
  • Single Sends, designs and template versions are created and updated as drafts only: Nexra never sets a Single Send send time, never schedules or sends one, and creates template versions inactive.
  • Only the existing single transactional send exists; no new send operations were added.
  • New contact and suppression lookups put identifiers and email addresses in POST bodies.
  • Segment queries are SGQL written by the user and are sent in the request body; SendGrid validates them asynchronously (queryValidation).
  • Email activity requires the paid Email Activity History add-on; without it SendGrid returns HTTP 403.
