Stripe with Nexra

Connected, approved, proven.

The things teams do most with Stripe, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.

Top actions

  • Create couponApproval by rule
  • Create customerApproval by rule
  • Get balance transactionRead

Example flow

  1. Stripe · Get balance transactionDone
  2. Stripe · Create couponNeeds approval
  3. Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven

Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches Stripe.

What gets logged

  • Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
  • A fingerprint of the exact request sent to Stripe
  • Stripe's reply: what it created or changed
  • One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before

Try this in the sandbox

Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect a Stripe test account before you go live.

Access and limits

Authentication
Stripe secret or restricted API key
Plans and access
All Stripe accounts. Use a restricted key with read access to billing, payments, balance, disputes, events, Checkout, payment links and reporting, and write access only to customers, products, prices, coupons and invoices.
Test environment
Test-mode keys and Stripe sandboxes behave like live mode without moving money.
Rate limits
100 read and 100 write operations per second in live mode (25 each in test mode); HTTP 429 when exceeded.
Pagination
Cursor pagination with starting_after and has_more; up to 100 objects per page.
Provider events
Stripe webhook endpoints deliver signed events for every object type. Flows can start the moment something happens: when a checkout is completed; when a payment succeeds; when a payment fails; when an invoice is paid.

Before you build a flow

  • Customer reads and email-matched upsert implemented. Concurrent creations require reconciliation.
  • Payment intents, charges, balance transactions, refunds, payouts and disputes are read only. Charges, refunds, payouts and transfers are never created.
  • Draft invoices are created and finalised with auto_advance=false, so Stripe does not automatically collect or email them.
  • Subscriptions are created and updated with payment_behavior=default_incomplete and without always_invoice proration, so no payment is attempted automatically by these requests.
  • Incremental reads filter on creation time; Stripe list endpoints have no updated-since filter. Use events.list (30-day retention) to capture updates to older objects.
  • Search operations use Stripe's search API (https://docs.stripe.com/search): filters are validated and quoted, at least one is required, and at most 10 are combined with AND. Email, name, phone, billing postcode and card fields are never searchable because the query travels in the URL; use customers.upsert (built-in, email in the request body) or metadata instead.
  • Search data can lag writes by up to a minute, is limited to 20 requests per second and is not available to businesses in India.
  • Not implemented by design: charges, PaymentIntent confirm or capture, refunds, payouts, transfers, top-ups, Treasury money movement, subscription cancellation, invoice finalise, pay, send, void or mark uncollectible, credit note issue or void, report run creation, Checkout Session and payment link creation, and every delete.
  • Balance and report-run reads need the Balance and Reporting permissions on a restricted key; report result files are downloaded from files.stripe.com with the same key and are not fetched by Nexra.
  • Stripe does not charge per API request, so no operation is billable.

Developer reference

  1. Create the Stripe credentials described above with the narrowest permissions your flows need.
  2. In Nexra, open Connect, then Connections, then New connection, choose Stripe, enter its settings and credentials, and tick only the write actions you need. Connection guide
  3. Test the connection, then use its actions as flow sources and destinations. Flow guide
